James Evans is the Max Palevsky Professor of Sociology and Data Science at the University of Chicago, where he directs the Knowledge Lab and founded the Computational Social Science program. His research uses large-scale data, machine learning, and generative models to explore how collectives think, innovate, and discover. His work has been published in Nature, Science, and PNAS, and featured in The Economist, Wired, and NPR. He is also an External Professor at the Santa Fe Institute.
